BEGIN YOUR STUDY HERE — Dardanelle Missionary Baptist Church • Pastor Chuck Trusty • the front door to everything on this site
Now this website has a lot on it - thirty years of lessons and a whole shelf of booklets - and I know from talking to some of you that it can feel like walking into a big store with no signs on the aisles . . . so this page is the SIGN. There are only two doors you need, and they are both right below. Pick the one that fits you, and you will never have to go hunting on this site again.
Door One — "I am new to the Bible, or new to the Lord"
Then start with The Basics . . . seven short chapters that answer the questions a new believer actually has - what happened when you were saved, what the Bible says about salvation, prayer, worship, the church and living the Christian life - plain answers, straight out of the text, one chapter at a sitting. Nothing is graded and nothing is locked. Read the first one and see if it does not feel like somebody finally explained it.
► Open The Basics — seven chapters
Door Two — "I want to read the Bible for myself and understand it"
Then start with How to Read the Bible - thirteen lessons, and every one of them is about a five-minute read. Each lesson hands you ONE tool, a rule for reading, and proves it with one word right out of the verse . . . take them in order, one at a time, and do the homework at the end - it is ONE verse - because that is where it sticks. By the time you finish you will have a whole toolbox for opening the Book on your own, and you will not need me standing beside you to do it.
► Open How to Read the Bible — Lesson 1 is at the top of the list
Two helpers to keep close
The Helper - somewhere around Lesson 4 a lesson will say "find where else the Bible uses that word," and you will wonder HOW. This page shows you - it is free, it runs on your phone, and it takes a few taps.
Which Bible Should I Buy? - if your Bible is hard on your eyes, or it has no references down the middle and no concordance in the back, this page names ONE Bible that has all of it and tells you where to get it . . . and it shows you how to use that center column, which is a thing nobody ever seems to explain.
A free King James with the helps built in - if you do not have a reference Bible handy, this one opens in a new tab, every verse has a TOOLS button beside it, and under that button are the center-column references and the Strong's numbers both. Do your study there, close the tab, and your lesson is still sitting right here. The Which Bible page shows you the three clicks.
If you get lost
You cannot break anything . . . if the screen gets away from you, just come back to this page - it is the tab marked Begin Your Study Here at the top of every page on this site. And if it still will not go, bring your question to church and we will sit down with it together, or send it through the Ask a Question page and I will answer it.
"The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple." — Psalm 119:130
